Associate Athletic Director for Compliance & Administration

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Associate A.D. is responsible for smooth operation of Cranbrook athletic programs and execution of the Athletic Director’s vision for a culture-driven athletic department where hard work is both expected and recognized. Hands-on mentorship in athletic administration is a primary benefit of this position.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain scheduling guidelines for all 22 sports (girls’ and boys’)
  • Schedule all conference and non-conference contests (internal and serves as Liaison to the Catholic League scheduling)
  • Contract Management
  • Officials Management
  • Home Contest Logistics (venues, staffing, game supervision, admission)
  • Away Contest Logistics (transportation, dismissals, entries, lodging, meals, supervision)
  • Practice Logistics (facility scheduling, academic dates, work orders)
  • Preseason Logistics (with coaches and Athletic Director)
  • Liaise with Associate Athletic Director for Communications and Events as necessary
  • Serve as liaison to campus and regional media

Michigan High School Athletic Association Compliance

  • Eligibility (Initiate and track Educational Transfer Forms, maintain official team rosters, and track academic eligibility)
  • Registration of coaches
  • Forms for overnight travel
  • Serve as MHSAA Tournament Manager for events on campus

External Representation 

  • Stand in for the Athletic Director as assigned
  • Represent Athletic Department on MHSAA Committees
  • Attend MHSAA and Catholic League annual and monthly meetings

Financial 

  • Payment of officials
  • Manage digital ticketing

Data Management    

  • Manage and Monitor CranNet
  • Integrate Arbiter One schedule system in compliance with MHSAA and Catholic League
  • Manage all scheduling systems, Arbiter One, Schedule Star and CranNet

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least five years high-demand administrative support required, work in compliance strongly preferred.
  • Proven success in independently managing many projects simultaneously with impeccable organization and follow-through.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required. Will be regularly communicating with students, parents, alumni, staff, faculty and administrators. It is necessary to understand, speak, and write in English.
  • Positive problem-solving ability is required to perform the functions of this position.
  • High-level organizational skills including multi-tasking and time management.
  • Must have weekend and early evening availability during fall/winter/spring seasons.
  • Must be able to travel regionally to contests and meetings.
  • Position requires significant standing/walking for long periods, indoors and outdoors in all weather, and/or lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient computer skills; experience with Microsoft Office suite required and Arbiter and Big Teams software a plus.
  • Valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record required.
