Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Financial Aid Services leadership to monitor and interpret federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations (Title IV, FWS, IWS, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and policies through regular audits and file reviews.
- Support updates to financial aid systems (PeopleSoft) to reflect regulatory changes and institutional policies.
- Collaborate with IT and Financial Aid staff to test and validate system updates.
- Update and develop and maintain required documentation for compliance procedures and system processes.
- Assist in preparing for internal and external audits, including data validation and reporting.
- Identify areas of risk and recommend corrective actions or process improvements to the Financial Aid Services leadership team.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance-related topics.
- Assist with responding to FSA Complaints, Borrower Defense Claims, servicer requests, etc.
- Ensure office policies and procedures that promote transparency and accountability.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to leverage known resources to stay current on federal and state financial aid regulations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data reporting tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial aid or compliance-related roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a state college or public higher education setting.
- Experience with student information systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft, or similar).
