SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Corporate Accounting Manager, you will perform the activities of a staff accountant engaged in preparing, compiling, and maintaining consolidated financial accounting records and reports to ensure that the financial position of the company is fairly and accurately represented in accordance with GAAP.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handle accounting for corporate entities, including monthly journal entries, and reconciliations
- Assist Accounting Manager with the review of certain account reconciliations and journal entries
- Continually communicate with regional controllers to ensure a great partnership between corporate accounting and our six regions around the country
- Coordinate with regions and Corporate VP of Treasury in handling bank admin requests
- Review & evaluate monthly financial packages submitted by the various divisions to the corporate office
- Review regional flux analysis
- Analyze data to discover patterns and/or discrepancies
- Participate in the coordination and preparation of financial schedules for the auditor's quarterly reviews and annual audit
- Assist in the monthly/quarterly preparation of reports needed for SOX compliance
- Compile data/information for reports, cost estimates, assets reports, etc.
- Develop and revise operating procedures to improve for compliance and for efficient operations
- Research information as requested and/or needed
- Perform other tasks as required (e.g., assistance in financial analysis for potential operational or corporate initiatives)
THESE ARE ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCES THAT YOU BRING TO THE PARTY
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent PLUS 2 - 5 years progressively responsible experience
- Ability to be flexible in dealing with changing priorities
- Ability to follow-through and react quickly to situations
- Ability to ensure confidentiality, take initiative and exercise considerable judgment
- Ability to confidently communicate with external auditors
- A strong understanding of GAAP
- Sarbanes Oxley experience is a big plus
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to answer questions in a professional and friendly manner
- Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, vlookup, etc)
- Team oriented and flexible attitude
- Ability to organize and prioritize workflow and also meet deadlines
- Experience with SAP BPC/BO and MS Dynamics is a big plus
- Current CPA or currently working on CPA is a plus
