Reporting to the Associate Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis will be an integral part of the finance team and strategic planning, annual budgeting and financial forecasting processes. The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for developing annual budgets and financial projections and providing targeted financial analyses and important decision support to various departments. The individual will also play a key role in developing program funding proposals and budgets working closely with the program and development teams. Further, the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis will be involved with organization-wide budget and forecast processes and special projects in support of the Finance Team. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and coordinate expense budgeting/forecasting processes for various Program teams and the Communications Department (portfolio changes may occur in the future).  
  • Provide monthly reporting and analysis of variances vs. budget/forecast and key performance indicators in support of corporate-level reporting.
  • Enhance and implement processes and procedures to ensure proper tracking of revenues/expenses and develop management reporting and metrics to assist department managers and support critical decisions.
  • Support restricted funding proposals and tracking.
  • Support year-end audit processes.
  • Support the accounting function on an as needed basis.
  • Assist with ad-hoc queries and financial analyses.
  • Identify improvements to organizational level financial planning processes and systems to enhance management decision-making and financial reporting.
  • Partner with colleagues to support Share Our Strength's work to be a diverse and inclusive organization, and ensuring this value is embedded in the organization and throughout our work.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on coursework of a quantitative nature, preferably Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related fields.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in finance roles, with prior experience in corporate finance/accounting and involvement in an organization’s programs and operations preferred.
  • Executes with excellence and operates with an unquestioned level of integrity.
    Familiarity with GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles and practices, including OMB Uniform Guidance.
  • A track record of superior financial analysis and developing/delivering recommendations based on this analysis.
  • High comfort level with utilizing financial applications (e.g. Financial Edge, Raiser’s Edge) to enhance and automate reporting and analysis.
  • High proficiency with MS Office suite; especially MS Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to high-level audiences. Interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
