Position Summary
The Accounting Clerk III (AC III) supports the CBP Administration Systems, Office of Finance in a variety of functional areas (Payroll, Travel, Commercial Accounts, Revenue Field Support, Revenue Collections and Revenue Protection). This position is responsible for the selection and application of CBP established procedures and techniques and for the protection of sensitive financial information.
Essential Functions
- Provide professional customer service by phone, email and creating helpdesk tickets for SAP, travel, accounts payable, payroll, revenue field Support, revenue collections and revenue protection inquiries.
- Process and support financial transactions, including authorizations, vouchers, invoices, vendor payments, travel reimbursements, and payroll-related items.
- Research, resolve, document, track, route, or escalate issues using appropriate systems and resources, including ServiceNow when applicable.
- Maintain and use current procedures, resources, and knowledge base information to ensure accurate and consistent support.
- Perform audits, reconciliations, and data reviews related to payroll, accounts payable, travel, onboarding, taxes, leave, withholdings, retirement, and separations.
- Perform clerical, mail desk, program administration, and other departmental support duties as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and a minimum of two (2) years of post-high school education from an accredited college or university in a finance or accounting field of study; and one (1) year of relevant experience in the field of finance or accounting
OR Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of relevant experience in the field of finance or accounting.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
- Must be proficient using Microsoft Office suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
- Knowledge of and/or experience with accounting principles and practices.
- Prior experience with SAP, ServiceNow, and Concur software systems is preferred.
- Must be able to secure and maintain a Bureau of Immigration (BI) background investigation. Due to this required Security Clearance, applicant must be a United States citizen.
Other Essential Requirements
Computer Skills: Proficiency with computers and ability to navigate/enter information into established databases and Microsoft Office products.
Language: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in writing and in person as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
Customer Service: Ability to address all customer inquiries with a pleasant and patient demeanor.
Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret information. Ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions dealing with several abstract and concrete variables.
Work Environment: When on site, work is performed in an office cubicle environment with low noise level.
Physical Demands: Employee will have consistent and direct visual contact with a computer monitor. The position may require frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of items weighing up to 50 pounds as part of regular job duties.
Other Demands: Must comply with company policies including but not limited to those involving safety, protection of privacy, cyber security, and general conduct.Work Location: Indianapolis, Indiana 46249
Position Status: Full-time Hourly
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (6:30 AM - 6:00 PM)
Remote Work Eligibility: This role is designated as remote. Due to contract and operational requirements, the employee must live within 50 miles of the designated CBP worksite and be available for on-site support as needed.
