Position Overview:
The Finance and Operations Manager is responsible for keeping the firm's operational engine running smoothly and efficiently, enabling the team to do its best work. This role will own the day-to-day execution of all major processes across finance, accounting, treasury, human resources, IT, and office administration for Alder Point's management company and its investment vehicles. This will include bringing a detail-oriented eye to internal controls and compliance, building and continuously refining processes, and supporting data analysis and strategic decisionmaking as the firm grows. Reporting to the founding Managing Directors, this role will coordinate closely with Alder Point's investment team and a network of outsourced accounting, HR, and IT providers. Key responsibilities include:
Finance & Accounting
Own the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable workflows for the company and its investment vehicles, in coordination with the investment team and outsourced accounting providers.
Manage company expenses, including ongoing transaction review and supporting coding/reconciliation.
Support cash planning, near-term cash flow forecasting; evaluation of credit facilities.
Coordinate on-time, accurate quarterly financial statements and annual audited financials, in addition to other reports, for the company and investment vehicles in coordination with outsourced accounting and tax/audit providers.
Manage annual budgeting processes and ongoing budget-to-actual variance analyses for the company and each investment vehicle.
Build and implement internal controls, expense allocation procedures, and capitalization policies.
Coordinate and document the quarterly financial review process and support NAV calculations for Valuation Committee review.
Investment Operations
Manage capital call and distribution processes, fund closings across all investment vehicles.
Support vendor selection, contracting, and onboarding for all investment vehicles.
Support entity formation, bank account setup, and cash movements for new entities.
Working with the investor relations team, respond to investor Operational Due Diligence (ODD) inquiries related to finance and operations.
HR, IT & Office Administration
Work with HR information system vendor on payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR-related programs and compliance matters.
Support recruiting processes, interview scheduling, and employee onboarding.
Manage office equipment, supplies, and facilities-related vendors.
Organize and maintain digital filing systems, firm-wide recordkeeping, and document retention.
Oversee and coordinate outsourced IT and cybersecurity provider.
Source, maintain, and track all insurance policies and associated asset schedules.
Legal, Governance & Compliance
Organize and track contracts, including implementation of best practices for contracting (standard terms / templates) and vendor renewals / re-bidding.
Maintain relevant business licenses and registrations across all entities.
Support implementation of SEC compliance program, including management of vendor due diligence, maintenance of company policies and procedures, and coordination of monthly and annual tasks and compliance program reviews.
Support company minutes and records management.
Qualifications:
Strong candidates will bring:
A passion for Alder Point's mission, including enthusiasm for the social and environmental impact of the work and an interest in sustainable agriculture and forestry.
5+ years of experience in relevant finance and operations roles such as private fund accounting/operations, real assets administration, outsourced/fractional CFO support, nonprofit/foundation accounting, or similar.
Proven operations management experience, including developing, implementing, and refining organization-wide processes and procedures and comfort owning a broad, cross-functional scope.
Accounting experience, including familiarity with treasury and accounts payable systems and experience working with outsourced accounting and finance providers.
A high bar for excellence, exceptional attention to detail, and personal integrity with a strong value for honesty and transparency.
A fast, self-directed learner who thrives with a high degree of autonomy and ownership, and is comfortable operating in ambiguous, evolving environments.
Excitement to be part of a small, collaborative team — willing to wear many hats, contribute to team culture, and support the firm in flexible ways as it grows.
Experience in private funds, real assets, or investment management preferred, including exposure to capital calls, NAV/valuation processes, and GP/LP or joint venture structures.
Location: This in-person role is based in Lafayette, Colorado.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $110,000-130,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Bonus Eligibility: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus up to 20% of base salary, subject to individual and firm performance.

Professional development and training opportunities
Physical Requirements: This position is primarily an in-office role, which will require work at a computer and desk for extended periods of time. Video calls are also a key component of the role. Walking on rural properties in variable weather conditions will be required for occasional field tours of the portfolio’s farmland and timberland assets.
Office Culture: As a small and growing team, we rely on our strong and collaborative team culture, and we believe that in-person time together is essential to building and sustaining that culture. Team members are expected to be in the office Monday-Friday during regular business hours most of the time, with flexibility to accommodate occasional family obligations, appointments, or other commitments that require remote work.
